Germination Netting

Crops such as carrots show poor germination rates when the soil drys out after seeding and during the early stages of germination. Germination netting can increase germination rates by retaining moisture in the soil for longer. This passive solution will decrease the need for watering, increase germination rates, and protect young crops from birds. The netting is re-usable and will provide benefits for years to come. 

Our durable germination netting is knitted with finished edges for extra strength. The knit won't fray or unravel when cut or torn. The finished edges prevent edge rolling and help to with tensioning the cloth. It is UV-treated and should last for more than ten years.

How to use germination netting:

* Direct seed your crop and water in 

* Lay germination netting over the bed. *Stake or weight down if needed.*

* Monitor soil conditions and water as needed. The netting is permeable, so there is no need to remove it to water.

* Leave netting in place until you start to see a few seedlings poke through the netting. When you see that gently lift up the netting and shake it ensure the netting is resting on top of the crops and no crops are growing through the netting. 

* Repeat the lift and shade daily until the crops are well established. At that time netting can be removed. 

* The netting is re-usable and will provide benefits for years to come.
